Kindle

I love techie stuff. Electronics are my weakness. When the Kindle 2 came out, I was like, wow, that is cool. But I didn't feel the need to buy one at over $250. So I waited. In the meantime, I downloaded books for free at Amazon for the Kindle for PC. Which was nice to read while I was knitting or laying in bed. Then, the Nook came out. I thought that was the hottest thang out there. But it was also over priced for me. Then came the e reader price wars and Nook lowered thier price, then Kindle lowered thiers. My ears perked up seriously then.

I had to choose, Kindle or Nook? I finally decided that the Nook would be a good choice for me because of it's price. Then I went to Amazon's site and saw that  they offer a lot more books for free and their books are often priced lower than B&N's. So I flipped again. I even consided buying an android tablet which was less expensive than both ereaders. But I didn't when I looked at the battery life and the screen that would kill my eyes.

Then the Kindle 3 was announced. $139 for the WiFi version. I could dig it.  That would be my birthday present to myself. My sister bought me a gift card to Target so I could pick it up from there. Payday comes around and I am absolutely giddy. Then a wave flashes over me. What if it is not there? So I pick up the phone and call my favorite Target. It is not there. Then I call another location. Gone. Then another... so long gone. So, every location in the area is sold out of the Kindle. WOW. So I decide to order mine online. The wait seemed impossibly long, but it was only a week.

Now I have had my Kindle for a year and I love it. I take it with me almost everyday. I treat myself to two books a month, but read many more free books that are also very good reads from Amazon.

My co-worker was wondering if he should buy one and I told him he should, but I also told him that I think they are coming out with a new one since they are lowering the prices of the K3 cases on Amazon. Sure enough, they made the announcement yesterday that they are coming out with 3 new models! I kinda want the Kindle Touch, but I think me and my good ol' K3 have such strong love for each other that I can't really see myself doing this right now.
